NUDE DESCENDING AN ESCALATORMoving Image Lotte Schreiber
This work is a paraphrase of Marcel Duchamp´s key work "Nude Descending a Staircase" (1912) and the painting "Ema, Akt auf einer Treppe" ("Ema, Nude Descending a Staircase") by Gerhard Richter (1966). While the artist treats the technocentric aspect of modernism in an ironic manner when she replaces the stairs with an electromechanical escalator, the cubist method of simultaneous multiple views is made topical by means of digital image manipulation.
