MUSIC FOR 18 MUSICIANS
Live Visuals
Several media artists were invited by the ars electronica 2004 to visualize minimalistic compositions. For this purpose a computer application which made it possible to use a notebook as a visual instrument was written. The keys were allocated abstract animations and dynamically variable parameters. The moving graphics represent a consistent visual interpretation of the orchestral piece, and the numbers of the colors and graphic objects correspond to the number of musicians and the twelve varying chords. The compelling rhythm of the musical composition was translated into a sequence of images resembling a stroboscope.
